Most of us are familiar with the hit show Gossip Girl that ran from 2007 to 2012. And after we delve into The Tale of Genji the relation of Genji to the infamous Chuck Bass soon becomes evident.
There is a theme that runs throughout The Tale of Genji, and that’s status matters. As wrong as it is, since the earliest societies, those in power have been able to get away with more than the common folk could dream of.
Genji’s status plays a major role in what he’s able to get away with. While he isn’t legally royal, itis a part of who he is, similarly to how Chuck Bass isn’t royalty, but he might as well be. Add dashing good looks and charisma on top of it and both these men could get away with murder (heck, one of them even did). Genji and Chuck are both vain womanizers, however, they always take care of the women after. When they are in love, they give that woman the world, and are able to do so for the most part as a result of their status.
But it isn’t always sunshine and rainbow, both these men be evil. Whether it is releasing fireflies or sabotaging another’s career, they can get away with it.
All in all, both Chuck Bass and Genji are able to use their status to get away with the world.
